Building a speaker: What materials to use? What technique to follow?
The other day I made a simple speaker using a 2L bottle and coiled copper wire et cetera. For a quick experiment I didn’t expect results, but luckily it worked thus sparking my interest.
My next weekend project is to build something more stable and powerful. I realize making a traditional speaker is too difficult as everything needs to be quite precise. Instead I would like to make a solid electromagnet with a light core, and attach everything to that.
I currently wrapped a 3mm thick steel rod with about 3.6 ohms worth of wire, and am wondering if this will work. Another idea is to glue one of my many neodymium magnets to what the speaker would be, and make the electro magnet stationary.
Tips are very appreciated, and maybe a guide one of you followed before would be appreciated as well.
