magnetic shielding >>>>>>>>>>>>?

magnetic shielding >>>>>>>>>>>>?

I’m designing something that involves quite a few neodymium magnets in close proximity with each other and I don’t want the fields to interfere with each other, I was thinking of wrapping them with lead, would this be sufficient?

Building a speaker: What materials to use? What technique to follow?

Building a speaker: What materials to use? What technique to follow?

The other day I made a simple speaker using a 2L bottle and coiled copper wire et cetera. For a quick experiment I didn’t expect results, but luckily it worked thus sparking my interest.

My next weekend project is to build something more stable and powerful. I realize making a traditional speaker is too difficult as everything needs to be quite precise. Instead I would like to make a solid electromagnet with a light core, and attach everything to that.

I currently wrapped a 3mm thick steel rod with about 3.6 ohms worth of wire, and am wondering if this will work. Another idea is to glue one of my many neodymium magnets to what the speaker would be, and make the electro magnet stationary.

Tips are very appreciated, and maybe a guide one of you followed before would be appreciated as well.

Thank you for reading
Sebastian

electromagnet levitation?

electromagnet levitation?

If some one would use 4 1000lb (4×1000=4000lb) electromagnets on the floor and 4 50lb (4×50=200lb) neodymium magnets on their shoes, is he able to levitate? Considered that the electromagnets are placed, so that they stabilize the human?

What would you need to do to a brushless DC motor to turn it into a generator?

by Wayne on May.23, 2010, under Earth Magnets

What would you need to do to a brushless DC motor to turn it into a generator?

I am new to learning about generators and dont know much about DC electricity. I am experimenting with building a windmill for household power. Would machining the shaft and placing magnets in it work? I am first building one with homemade coils and earth magnets, but somebody suggested using a dc motor housing and thought i would check into it. Thanks for any input.

where can i find these materials for my project?

Alright so i went to the home depot today and i wasnt able to find any of these items. where can i get them?

-Large cork (3.5-5cm)
-enamled magnet wire 24 gage
-6mm (1/4 in) wooden dowel (20cm long)
-4 cermamic or rare earth magnets
-clear vinyl tubing 6cm long, 1/4′ inside diameter
-10 cm nail or awl

thanks

Where can I find cheap 8mm neodymium magnets?

by Wayne on May.20, 2010, under Earth Magnets

Where can I find cheap 8mm neodymium magnets?

I am not looking for anything special (I’ve seen gold plated ones). I am just looking for some of these so I can play around with them. (By cheap I hopefully mean at least 50 for less than $10, but I don’t know how much they cost.) P.S. I had no clue what category to put this in, but I have seen a lot of science websites that have these magnets.
