Any suggestions On A survival knife and What Kinda Shoe To wear In Texas?

Gonna go for a multi day hike/camp /trek here in Texas U.S.A . Forest areas and hills and flat lands hot humid most the time and my husband and I are trying to find us some good survival knifes and I need some good boots but I don’t know what is best like hiking boots or jungle boots or work boots we have snakes and sticker bushes and holes and ants every where so I don’t know what boots is best any suggestion is very welcomed

I just got stabbed with a pocket knife… What should I do?

So I was walking home from school yesterday, when this random kid jumped out and stabbed me in the right side of my stomach with a small pocket knife… I don’t think it went too far in. I stuffed it with a bit of snow to numb it… I limped home, and doused it with rubbing alcohol, took some fishing wire and a needle, sterilized it, and stitched the wound up (it’s happened before and I’m getting better at self medicating)… It’s just extremely painful and it’s been a while since I was last stabbed. Please don’t say anything like “sue the kid” or “call the cops” because its happened before and that just leads to people calling you a snitch, which eventually leads to more beatings and stabbings. Oh, and I have iatrophobia, the intense fear of doctors. Since I am a chubby kid, doctors hav always blamed every condition I had on my weight. I broke my leg one time, and my doctor said, “Oh, that’s just because you re fat” and gave me nothing… I had to suck it up and let the leg heal on its own. I’ve went to the Emergency Room before for a stab wound, and basically they charged a fortune just to give me a few Tylenol and whisper fat jokes when they thought I wasn’t looking. So, what do you think I should do? Tylenol and other over-the-counter drugs have barely any effect on me… Should I buy some drugs or something?

Is it safe for me to go running?

I am 16, 5′2 ft and 105 lbs. I want to start running every morning because I’m really unfit. I want to run early when there aren’t many people around because I don’t like people watching me and I get really embarrassed. Pepper spray and weapons, even small pocket knives, aren’t allowed where I live but I will bring my dog who is nearly as big as I am. I will be running at 6 for half an hour, in my neighborhood which is relatively safe, or I think it is. but do you think this is too risky? Any tips to stay safe? What do I do if someone starts following me

Pepper spray vs. pocket knife for self defense?

I’m from Maryland, let me say first off, so the possibility of an concealed firearm permit is close to zilch, from what I know.

I don’t live in especially bad area, but I do like to walk around in Baltimore and other city areas sometimes. Better to be safe; the other night a large drunk or high fellow was getting a little too close for comfort to me as he continued to harass me for “change”. And I see this happening all the time. Parking garages also make me wary.

Anyway, after the above incident I went ahead and purchased a bottle of pepper spray. I’ve never owned it before, and certainly never used it.

Before, I used to sometimes carry a small folding knife, about 4 in blade. As far as Maryland law goes, and most places, switch blades are illegal, as are butterfly knifes. The one I have can qualify as “utility knife”, which should make it ok for carrying in my pocket, BUT takes 2 hands to open… this may or may not be a big disadvantage.

Certainly wasn’t looking for anything deadly, just enough to make someone take their hands off me in a tight situation, a quick slice to hands or face, maybe a jab to the stomach, just so I can run out of there.

Might the pepper spray be more or less effective as a self-defense weapong though? I’m 30y/m, and I know usually is ladies that carry it, I know its foolish to ask, but surely there are men who carry some as well?

Anyway, also as far as legalities, the small knife should be legit, but the spray, ironically, seems to be considered a weapon in Maryland and so does this mean it cannot technically be concealed? Where am I supposed to carry it then?

BTW what bothered me about such encounters is not just being asked for change, which happens all the time and i usually give it if the person is peaceful and seems genuinely homeless or in need. Sometimes such encounters are only a ploy to get one to remove their wallet, or simply a way to harass and be belligerent if they are refused. In this case, I had to play the old “its cool man, I’m sorry, just don’t have any” routine and say it repeatedly, while then ducking into a 7/11, where he followed but eventually lost interest.

Had it been a dark area with not anyone else around, things could have got ugly.
