Any free (or at least really cheap) VOIP that would let me plug in a landline to make calls?
I do not have landline phone service. I’m about to get an old Tivo with lifetime service that can only connect through a landline phone. If possible, I’d like to be able to actually use the nifty Tivo features, instead of just using it as a digital VCR. But, if I wasn’t at least kind of broke, I wouldn’t be buying a used first-generation Tivo.
So, I’m trying to figure out if there is a very cheap way I can actually connect my new Tivo to its home base via some flavor of VOIP. I figure I’ll need to buy *some* kind of box or adapter or something, but I don’t want to have to either pay for a subscription, or pay for each call, and I can’t afford to pay all *that* much for the box itself, either. If I do have to pay, I’m not willing to pay more than, say, $1/call (which would work out to about $.50/week for Tivo service, which is about all I’m willing to pay for it).
I do not need to *receive* calls on it, or use it in any other way, I just want the cheapest possible way to make my “new” Tivo talk to its home base without having to borrow the neighbor’s landline. Any suggestions?
USA, and I think there is a local number in Phoenix.
And, at this point, the price to beat is $25, someone is willing to sell me a cache card that will do the job another way for that much…
Is this some kind of fraud or what?

Is this some kind of fraud or what?
Someone who I know, month after month, somehow gets billed for internet/phone/cable but the bill always shows a negative balance of five dollars and some change. How are they able to do this month after month and not get caught by the cable company?
There are a few other things that kind of make me have doubts as well. What do you all think?

Which SIP account and VoIP service should I use?
Hi All,
I am in process of setting up a premium rate number business and my provider says that they will forward my premium rate number calls to my sip phone. I had no idea about it and I did a thorough research, but I could not get anything of it. I have checked there are many free sip account providers but I am not sure if they will work if I want to receive my calls through a premium rate number. What about paid accounts? Can anyone please suggest an answer that include each and every thing like where to get a SIP account, PBX, voip phone etc. I even have no idea what is the difference among all them.
Any help would be much appreciated.
PLEASE HELP….
Used Blackberry Curve Not Opening Sites?

Used Blackberry Curve Not Opening Sites?
I have access to a used Blackberry Curve that is one of the older models, I don’t know if it is 3g or something less. A shop that initially tried it reinstalled the operating system. Using the T-Mobile pay-as-you-go service it opens the home page of news and entertainment with hyperlinks when you click the browser, which looks like a globe. It can open google quickly and do searches, and it can use hotmail and a few other things. As well it will quickly find pictures in google’s picture search mode and display them. But whenever hyperlinks are clicked to bigger sites it takes a long time to open them, sometimes doing so for ten minutes before freezing up. What is the cause of this do you think, if I am correct in assuming that the older internet phones can still access them?
Also when things downloaded including from the Blackberry site are clicked on to install them nothing happens.
Is there something that I can do to fix this – I am computer literate but not Blackberry literate – or would a shop be able to fix it?

Friend is leaving for another country soon..I suppose now wouldnt be the time to confess my feelings for him..?
Hello,
I am..completely and utterly devastated. I have pretty much cried myself to sleep for the past week. I am a mess.
My best friend in the whole entire universe is leaving for Europe this fall to do an exchange program. He will be gone all of next year–which is our senior year. He isn’t going to be here for graduation or anything. Chances are, after this summer..we will never see each other again.
I am happy for him, don’t get me wrong. He is so excited. I’m glad he is pursuing his dreams.
But. I just..I LOVE HIM D’:
We have been best friends for over four years now. He has helped me through quite a few hard times. He has always been there for me. He has really been the ONLY one there for me–the only one who has cared about me.
I don’t know what I am going to do without him. I know that I’ll try to stay in contact with him..but I have a feeling that we will grow apart. There are probably a million other people he’ll meet and like more than me and stuff once he’s over there.
Anyway. The point is..I have had feelings for him forever. Should I just tell him? I am scared to. But I am scared that I will regret it if I don’t.
I don’t know. What would you do? What should I do?
Thanks.

Why won’t he give me his number again?

Why won\’t he give me his number again?
I started talking to this guy on an online dating site in August of last year – we’re just friends. After a month of chatting on there, we exchanged digits & added each other on FB. Around mid November, he added his ex girlfriend back on FB. She’s a real wacko & posted weird crap on his wall, tagged him in somewhat inappropriate statuses, & she SWEARS…a LOT.
Around New Year’s, he stopped texting me & responding to my texts. I got fed up with his ex bitching & posting crap, so I deleted him from FB & I deleted his number from my phone, so I wouldn’t risk texting him…probably a mistake, but whatever.
Late February, I shot him a FBmessage figuring he wouldn’t respond…just a semi – generic one “hope duke (his dog) is staying warm Because it’s cooold outside! lol” About a half hour later, he replied & I was shocked! We have internet phones, so it’s basically texting…kind of. We’ve been talking on there ever since. I kinda fibbed & said that my friend deleted his digits from my phone, but he didn’t give them to me.
Month after we started FBmessaging, I saw that he deleted his ex…again! lol But we aren’t FBfriends…I kinda…looked one day…lol whoops!

Your house is 2500 square feet (roughly 50 feet by 50 feet) and sits in the middle of lot that is 660 feet long and 185 feet wide. You have a cable modem which provides you with a 5MB download speed. You set up a Linksys WRT54GL wireless adapter, using all the factory defaults to connect your family’s devices to each other and to the Internet: 4 laptops, a couple of desktops, a media server, an internet phone, and a satellite dish. The dish, the phone, and one of the desktops are connected to the back of the wireless adapter, and the remaining devices are connected wirelessly
All of your devices can “see” each other except the satellite dish, and all devices an access the Internet.
From a security perspective, is there any issue with this setup?
If there is, please list the steps that you would take to mitigate the risk

What kind of careers should I aim for based on my interests?

What kind of careers should I aim for based on my interests?
I’ve always had a gift for math, and I enjoy hands on activities, particularly when it comes to computers. I also have a gift for graphic designing in many of my computer classes. So my question would be, are there any jobs out there that would appeal to a computer loving math genius? I really love the quote, “If you love your job, you never work a day a your life”, and I would like to aim for that ideology.
I’ve also heard that computer programming involves nothing but writing lines of code. Is this true? If so, that’s not a path I want to take.
