Why are hemorrhoids called "hemorrhoids" instead of "asteroids"?

Not all night, but for probably a couple hours too long and now they hurt a bit and I had white stuff in my eye? I have left them in ONCE all night by mistake, and never have again. But I was using a laser pointer, not IN my eye but still could this affect me? And how do I stop the pain, it’s like a dull ache in my left eye.
