How do i get my R4 v2.10 to work on my 3ds?

I’ve tried the latest software from r4 sdhc’s website. The website says its compatible with the 3ds, its the old one not the r4i. i put it in but it soesnt indicate that theres a card inserted, but it works on my old ds. i dont know if im missing a step or what. my ds firmware is 1.1.0-0U. brand new. please help
