My Wii won\’t play my game?

I’ve tried putting the game into the Wii multiple times, it lights up, and about ten seconds later an error message comes on the screen and it says to see the Wii Operations Manual for Troubleshooting. I went to the Wii Operations Manual and went to the Troubleshooting section, but there was nothing there to help. The game is My Sims, its brand new, I got it yesterday and it wasn’t used. There aren’t any scratches or anything on it. I’ve tried putting the disk in different ways, moving my Wii around, turning the Wii off, unplugging it, nothing will work. Other games work, I’m convinced that the game just has some problem. But my Wii is really old and I have to hit it just to get a disk out, so it could also be the Wii. I just want to make sure that there are no solutions for this before I go and get my wii fixed or return the game. My Wii is also up to date.
