I thought the art design during nominees was lame, Russell Brand’s act wore thin, and Britney seemed out of her mind. Lil’ Wayne was just so so considering he said this was going to be the best performance of his life and MTV muted out half the song filled with cuss words. Jonah Hill was great, and the elect Barack Obama line from Brand was good.

Britney- Looks amazing
Russell Brand- Rude and annoying. I was pissed when he intereupted Robert Pattinson
Lil Wayne- His performance was amazing. I like that they included Leona Lewis becasue I love her too.
I really liked Pink’s performance.

The elect Obama thing was the line that pissed me off the most. I wanted to shoot the guy through the TV. But I hate Obama so that’s probably why. I just thought it was uncalled for to bad mouth the president (not that I’m the biggest Bush fan but please, have a little respect), and then he started ripping on McCain and Palin. This is a music awards show…not a soapbox.

Britney Spears – Seemed in her right mind but you can still tell that shes not ready for an actual performance yet.
Russell Brand – He seems cool, but the Jonas Brothers jokes are getting really old.
Lil Wayne – He was awesome, but I expected a little more.
Jonah Hill – Hilarious as usual.

I think Russell Brand is horrible. I have never heard of him for one, but for a guy from England to come to our country and talk crap about our president and make it seem that anyone who doesn’t vote for Obama is a racist. Who is HE to tell us who to vote for? Go back to your own country!

He went on and on about how he believed in Obama and wanted a black president – There is nothing wrong with that. There is something wrong with that when he says something like this to an interviewer-

What’s his face is full of it and so is MTV. They hired some no name loser to host the VMAs and he wasnt even entertaining, nor were the VMAs. I didn’t care for the “vote obama” line because the guy’s from britain. How would he kno whats goin on here? Plus why would I vote for someone based on being told to. That’s not how americans vote. We have freedom of choice. And what was up with Britney winning every single award that she was nominated for. Yeah, I kno she’s been through a lot but that video was barely played on MTV. It seemed more like they were giving her pity awards. VMAs were so boring and a waste of time.

I liked Russell Brand. The whole virginity thing wore a little thin, but I liked his personality. Britney looked a lot better than last year. Would have been nice to see her perform. Also, she gave almost exactly the same “thank yous” for the first two awards. I didn’t like Lil’ Wayne’s performance. Like you said, most of it was muted out. I was watching the VMAs with someone else. When he started performing, the person looked up from the book she was reading and said “Wow, the TV has really bad reception.” Because she thought it was bad reception that was making it all muted out in places, lol
Someone who answered above me said that Russell Brand said it was racist not to vote for Obama, but that’s not what he said. Russell Brand said that it was racist to say that America is not ready for a Black president.

I enjoyed the VMA’s…just because it all seemed like a big joke to me.
Russell Brand: I remembered he was from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I felt really bad for the Jonas Brothers because they were getting bashed on so much!! But hey, even though it got old, everyone makes fun of everyone on national television…so it’s stupid for people to get so sensitive over it. And about the whole Obama thing, people seriously get over it!! Whatever he said he said. People say those things on national television all the time, but it seems like when he said it he got bashed on it. I personally don’t even like Obama, but I agree with C.A.S: He was saying it was racist for America to say we weren’t ready for a black president. He was pointing out that America was progressive….what’s wrong with that? Yea he was a little over the top and annoying especially when he kept repeating alot of the Jonas Brother’s jokes, but I’ve definitely seen worse performances. At least he had high energy.
Britney Spears: Her body looks alot better…hair looks better as well. But I think Britney’s major prime, and greatest performance was at the 2000 VMA’s. To be honest it really seemed like the awards she won were just pity awards…..Piece of Me isn’t SUCH an epic song, I mean really cmon. Her older songs are much much better in my opinion. I really hope she comes back with something huge, I have a feeling she will. I love Britney, I think she is shockingly amazing….and a very naturally beautiful face…I can’t stop looking at her.
Lil Wayne: An entertaining fellow, my roommate absolutely LOVES him! lol. He really looked like a monkey performing tonight..haha. Not literally..he was good, but wasn’t super amazing. Fun is the right word. I’m glad he won the awards he did.
Other performances/people: Although I do not like Paris Hilton, I do admire her grace in front of the stage. I REALLY liked Paramore’s performance alot…she seemed real and a really great singer! Kate Perry sucked alot in my opinion but I love her song…it just seems like it will be a one hit wonder. I cannot STAND Pink, but I do have to admit she is a gret performer. I love Christina Aguilera and her voice…she looked really cool tonight. I LOVED how McLovin just appeared on stage with Slipknot! That was my favorite part of tonight. Lauren from the Hills is super boring to me. This might sound biased but I really don’t like Rihanna as a singer or a performer. But alot of people seem to like her…Those guys from that show Drake and Josh were there, and I never thought I would have thought that previously bigger one (forgot his name) was hot, but he lost alot of weight and is looking really sexy! Kobe looked funny getting into the performances.
Overall the VMA’s weren’t THAT great. Just entertaining I guess. In good and bad ways. I thought they should have had more categories. I also thought that it was lame that alot of the same songs and videos got nominated for different categories making the awards seem like it was a repetition. It seemed like this popularity show from high school.

Russell is/was simply amazing! He is the most bloody talented person who I love love love that I don’t actually know- but hope to see in real life one day!
I’d recommend checking out his brilliant My Booky Wook, his youtube stuff is really entertaining and bbc radio 2 showsometimes I adore him because he says things people don’t say, he is so out there with his wild antics, BUT theres so much more to his persona than that. He’ll make you sit and think about the world, love, and life if you listen to or read his work.

i was bored out of my mind, britney looked great though compared to last year and her winning all the awards was kinda fishy, she def ddnt deserve video of the year , Russell Brand was just plain rude sometimes, i thought he was kinda funny but i changed the channel when he started on the jonas brothers because i felt embarrased for him and i knew it was downhill from there, i liked ti’s song but not the performance. All in all very disappointing as this was supposed to be the anniversary. Better luck next year.

Brittany – Poor girl. She looked great after everything she has been through but her robotic thank yous and that horrible opening when she sticks her tongue out at the end as if she’s glad it’s over shows she’s not ready for the stage.
Lil Wayne – As he was creeping onto stage, I looked at my husband and son and asked them if they agreed he looked like Predator walking on stage. I also pointed out that the belt he wore looked very expensive but why was he wearing it if he wanted his underwear to hang out. I’m tired of rappers butts.. Pull the pants up and take your shirts off instead.

On Ms Spears…. I was disappointed! She should have performed! ^_^ That would have been a comeback! (and I was so shocked to find out she’s never one a VMA! And while I love the piece of me song, I cant believe she one for that song/video!)
On Mr Brand…. I thought he was funny—but a little brash. It is probably his British humor, CULTURE SHOCK! If it were DL Hugely or Jamie Fox or any other American host, people wouldn’t have gotten so upset. I mean hello, he is a comedian—they make fun of people, they push buttons, that is their job!
On Lil Wayne…. I don’t like him very much. In fact—none of the performances were that good, none of them just reached to me. The overall performances were better on the Bet Awards!

Russell Brand begged everyone to vote for Obama. Then he went on to continue talking American politics when he’s not even a US Citizen!!! Regardless of whether or not I support Bush, Obama, McCain or Palin…this guy was way off the deep end to make fun of Palin’s daughter and even the Jonas Brothers for that fact!
Don’t get me wrong…I have a great sense of humor but this guy just wasn’t funny! From the silent audience you can tell people were offended. There is a difference between funny/offensive and not funny/offensive and this guy was definitely the latter of the two. Make fun of the pop stars not those involved in politics. If I wanted to hear about politics, I would be watching CNN or Fox News…not the VMA’s. Especially, when Russell isn’t even from the US and can’t even vote here!!! I don’t care about any of those other people, but Britney looked great & I was soooo happy for her. She had a rough year & deserved this boost in her confidence! That poor girl has taken a lot a slack for years. She may have done some crazy stuff in the recent past, but who wouldn’t when she has had to live her young life in the spotlight???
