Why does the green light turn off when I try to install ctf on my psp?

Why does the green light turn off when I try to install ctf on my psp?
First I put the MMS in then I put the pandora battery in next. About six or eight seconds later the green power light turns off. Can someone tell me why? Or better why how to fix it?
